Women’s Euro 2022: Netherlands cruise to victory with a 3-2 win against Portugal, Sweden record first victory in a tournament

Manchester [UK14, July (ANI) Danielle van der Donk’s brilliant goal handed the Netherlands an important win of 3-2 against Portugal at the start of their Group C game in the Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday and helped the champions of the past climb up to first place in the table in their group.

Damaris Egurrola Damaris Egurrola gave the Dutch team, which was hampered by illness and injuries seven minutes into the game, a lead through a the perfect strike from an angle. After nine minutes, Stefanie van der Gragt scored a second goal.

However, Portugal did not give up and displayed a remarkable amount of determination.

Carole Costa scored a goal through a penalty at the end of the 38th minute of the match for a the score 2-1. Half-time was the time when Portugal was down by a score of 1-0 in the match.

After a few minutes, Diana Silva made things even with Portugal and returned home with by kicking a perfect crossing from Costa.

Dutch could have had a chance to take the lead. Dutch could have had the lead through Jill Roord but her effort was disallowed for offside following a VAR decision. In the 62nd, Van De Donk netted the decisive goal, securing the ball at the edge of the box and slapping into the back corner to score 3-1 for the Netherlands.

Netherlands have four points from two games, the same as Sweden. Sweden won their first game against Switzerland by a score of 2-1. Netherlands will face Switzerland for their last match while Portugal will play Sweden. Both final matches will be played on July 17th.

Teenager Everton midfielder Hanna Bennison’s decisive strike in the second period made it possible for Sweden get their first win of the tournament with Switzerland on Bramall Lane.

Sweden started the game in a good way, but suffered an incident during the 9th minute when their opponent was given an injury due to a foul. However, when they looked at the screen on the field the referee rescinded her decision.

Fridolina Rolfo was challenging the Swiss by her gameplay. In the first period, it was without a goal. She was still playing very well after the break however, her strike missed in the upper corner. In the 53rd minute of the match she scored her premier goal scored by her team after securing the ball in the left-hand side of goal.

Ramona Bachmann scored an equaliser two minutes after, launching a curling shot that went into the top corner.

Switzerland attempted to make the most of their chances over the remainder of the game, but Bennison’s goal in the 79th minute was the only goal of the match which made it 2-1 favor of Sweden. Sweden could have scored another goal at the end of the 90th minute however the goal scored by Rebecka Blomqvist was disallowed as offside. However, Sweden had finished on the winning side.
