Actor Yaphet Kotto Passes Away at Age 81

According to the actor’s wife, Yaphet Kotto has passed away at the age of 81. The actor has been featured in movies like the James Bond movie “Live and Let Die,” “Midnight Run,” and “Alien,” where he starred alongside Sigourney Weaver.

Kotto’s beginnings found him reportedly coming from Cameroonian royalty via his father’s side of the family, but the actor made his way to New York City to study acting as a teen. His dive into the arts found him landing roles on ‘Hawaii Five-O’ and ‘The Thomas Crown Affair.’ Kotto’s big break came when he played the villain known as Mr. Big in the 1973 James Bond entry ‘Live and Let Die.’

Kotto also was seen in movies like ‘The Running Man’ alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and even acted with Robert De Niro. Kotto’s wife, Tessie Sinahon, revealed the news on Facebook and said: “This is a very painful moment for me to inform you all fans, friends and family of my husband.” No cause of death was given, but it was noted he passed away in the Philippines this past Monday.
